After reinstalling the OS on my work PC, I opted to convert all files to WordPerfect (WP) during the setup. Now, I'm struggling with two issues: 1) Most documents I receive are in MS Word format, making the conversion choice inconvenient. 2) I can open some email attachments, but others fail to open. If I uninstall and reinstall WP, can I answer the setup questions differently to avoid these issues?

I have an Acer Aspire 4740G. When I turn on the computer, I get a vertical scrolling band about 50 mm wide at the center of the screen. I can select icons and the computer responds normally, but the scrolling band remains. Can you help identify the fault?
