I am unable to type in the address box where one enters URLs such as gmail.com. A flashing solid black box appears at the far left of the box and prevents me from typing any numerals or letters. My computer was working fine this morning, but after a slow performance and unsuccessful attempts to open files or attachments, I rebooted. Since then, I have encountered this cursor issue. How can I resolve this problem?

I have a 32F5-40 E TV manufactured in Dec 2004. It has component plugs in the back. Is this a digital TV? Should it be able to accept a signal via a VGA to RCA cable (component)? I have my laptop hooked up to the TV, but the image is not clear and is scrambled. What resolution should I set on my laptop, and would a straight S-Video cable connection resolve the issue?
