I cannot get my remote to advance the slides on my Dell projector model 1210S. The batteries are properly installed, and I have attempted to activate the remote within even inches. There is no LED display screen on this remote, and I viewed the remote's IR LED through my mobile camera and iPad, but did not see any light. The remote was still in the bubble wrap, though I bought the projector two years ago. What could be the issue?

My Windows Live email will open but not download email. It says I am working offline. Comcast and I reset the password, but it didn't help. I get a screen asking for the username and password, but it doesn't download incoming mail and I cannot send out.
