I have been trying all day to sort out my daughter's laptop running Vista Home Edition. The original problem was that she could not log on due to 'unable to load User Profile,' which I fixed using System Restore. However, I ended up with a mess of unused programs. I tried to download 'Revo Uninstaller' to remove certain programs, but the machine would not allow me to download it. I also encountered issues with AVG Free, which I tried to uninstall but failed. I tried to download the 'AVG Remover' tool, but the same issue occurred. I have switched off 'Protection Mode' to allow trusted programs, but the Firewall is still on. I am at a loss to know what to do. Is it the remnants of AVG blocking the download of Revo, or is it Vista, or something else?
