I purchased a SimpleTech 1TB SimpleDrive SML S1000U from Circuit City 3 years ago and have had it on a desktop with XP Pro. I went to plug it into a new Dell laptop USB port and it won't plug in. The desktop USB port and the drive USB cable both have 4 pins instead of the standard bar. The drive-furnished cable has the USB sign on the plugs but is not a standard USB plug. Where can I get a standard USB cable that will also plug into the drive? Do I need to update a driver for Windows 7?

My Toshiba Satellite laptop, after having its motherboard replaced, has developed an issue where the DVD player starts and stops every 15 to 30 minutes, even when not in use. This happens whether I'm at the laptop or not, and it's very annoying. The DVD player works fine when I use it normally. What could be causing this and how can it be fixed?
