My Canon Inkjet iP 1600 printer displays the error message 'Waste ink absorber is almost full. Press the printer's RESUME button to restart printing.' on all print jobs even after restarting. Do I need to clean out the absorber, and if yes, how do I do this?

What is error code 1016 on a Hitachi WAVE HPLC system, and why is the download not completed? The system is a used one from early 2000, running on Windows 7. The computer is an HP ProDesk, and the issue has been ongoing for a couple of months. The HPLC doesn't initialize, and the only steps taken so far are rebooting both the HPLC and the computer.
