I want to set up a dual boot system with Windows XP and Windows 7 on two separate hard drives. After installing Windows 7 on the primary hard drive, it won't boot, but XP boots fine. When the secondary hard drive with XP is set to boot first, the dual boot options show Windows 7 twice, with only the top option booting correctly. I have a Gateway desktop running Windows XP Home Edition and am about to purchase a 500GB Gateway laptop with Windows 8. I want to transfer my entire hard drive from the desktop to the laptop. Will the laptop with Windows 8 be able to read and download my data from the Windows XP desktop? If not, how do I get the data from the Windows XP desktop to the Gateway laptop? Should I take it to a computer shop and pay them to do it?
