My laptop turns itself off every five to ten seconds after turning it on, becomes very hot, and sometimes does not boot up before turning itself off. It also shows 'system BIOS shadowed' and 'video BIOS shadowed' at startup. What should I do?

I'm new to Picasa and I can't keep pictures at their enlarged size after editing. After I increase their size using the slider in the editing section, they revert to their original size when closed. How can I permanently enlarge pictures in Picasa or with another software?

When trying to update my iPhone 3GS using iTunes, I get a message that iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store due to a network connection timeout. Additionally, the 'Check for Update' date on the summary page is always one day ahead of the current date. I do not have an Apple computer, but a Sony Vaio. What should I do, and should I visit an Apple store workshop for assistance?
