My MacBook laptop screen turned black and shut down while I was working on a document. I tried a hard reboot, but it only started the process halfway before shutting down again, displaying a white circle with a line through it. This has happened three times. I am currently in France, and the computer was purchased in Canada. What could be causing this issue, and what steps can I take to resolve it?

I'm trying to connect a new router, but it says 'you're almost there. Follow the instructions,' and I lost the instructions. My laptop doesn't have an Ethernet port, and I've connected the coaxial cable to both the outlet and modem. All lights are on, with a couple flickering. It says 'you're almost there... Follow the instructions to activate your modem and connect to your network,' but no other instructions are coming up. What should I do?
