My PPT file changed to a different file type and I can't open it. I saved it today, but when I tried to change its name, it became a different file type and is now corrupted. I haven't updated my software or OS recently. What could be wrong and how can I fix it?

I updated my iPhone this morning and changed my Apple ID password, now I'm locked out of my phone. I tried resetting through Apple's online account reset tool but it didn't work. I also mistakenly canceled and then reset my iCloud account. My phone is asking for a passcode after restarting, but I've tried the passcode and it says to try again in 5 minutes. What should I do?
