My Excel 2008 and Word 2008 will no longer retrieve my prior spreadsheets and word documents. It says 'Excel can no longer open this file.' I would not object to buying a new version but do not want to compromise my old spreadsheets. The files were loaded from a disc when I worked at Johns Hopkins and are not saved to cloud storage services like Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive.
