My 6-year-old Rottweiler is whimpering in pain around his abdomen area and was shivering. He was fine this morning but began whimpering later. My husband gave him dog aspirin for the pain and has kept him laying down. What could be wrong with him?

I have a Rat Terrier who had a swollen lip on the right side a few months ago, which went down the same day. Today, the left side of his lip is swollen, closer to his eye but still around the jaw area. He is 10 years old and has poor teeth and gums. We asked vets about dental cleaning but are now concerned.
