My female miniature Foxie Maltese cross, aged 7 years, came into heat on 20.9.2010 and was bred by a male Pomeranian cross Shihtzu, aged 9 months. She now has an enlarged belly and is expected to give birth around the 21st of December. Will she have problems with her first litter, and should I take her to the vet to be checked? Additionally, should I separate the male from the mother and puppies after birth?

My dog ate part of a toy rope and part of a tarp, leading to two surgeries to remove the matter and two feet of intestine. There is fluid coming from his stitches, which stops after a while but happens again when he stretches to use a dog door. The last operation was two days ago.
