Two days ago, while out hiking, our large mixed breed dog developed a large abscess on its muzzle. Today, it has multiple ruptures. We are on a return hike and still three days away from being able to access a vet. What can we do to help our dog until we can get to a vet?

I took my toy Yorkie to the vet on Saturday because she was wheezing, not getting enough air, vomiting a little, and licking the carpets. We suspect she may have ingested toy stuffing. The vet found her tongue to be dark due to lack of oxygen, took blood, gave her antibiotics, and sent her home. Today, the vet called to say her lab results were abnormal, likely due to dehydration, and recommended subcutaneous fluids and repeat labs. She is currently eating, drinking, and playing normally. Does she really need this treatment?
