For my diabetic dog, when I get a BG number of 64, the vet tells me that is acceptable, and they only worry when the number is below 50 or there is a change in behavior (lethargy). Yet, I am told by other diabetic 'parents' of dogs in a Facebook forum (ran by vets/specialists) that anything under 70 is worrisome and that brain damage begins when the number falls below 70. Dog had a reading of 67 yesterday, took to vet after giving a little honey, vet got a reading of 135 30 minutes later, telling me anything above 50 is good and she is fine. Lowered vetsulin from 15 to 14 units this morning at 6:00 am with fasting BG of 198. Reading of: 339 at 8 am, 64 at 10 am - gave honey and 1/4 cup WD, 129 at 10:15 - gave another 1/4 cup WD, 402 at 10:30, 319 at 11:30, 538 at 12:30. I guess my question is at what number do you get concerned? Is she truly ok at 64?
