My 13-year-old chihuahua, Izzy, has been very healthy and active until recently. She started with reverse sneezes, then developed a dry cough, and now has a loud honking/gasping sound when she coughs. She is lethargic and seems out of it. Her appetite has decreased, and she sometimes chokes on her food. She also sounds like she is snoring even when awake. What can I do to make her comfortable throughout the night before I take her to the vet in the morning?

Is it safe to give my dog, Noel, who is approximately 10 years old and weighs between 8 and 10 pounds, dye-free, alcohol-free, and sugar-free bubble gum flavored children’s Benadryl for an allergic reaction to Science Diet wet food? She has a swollen face but her breathing is fine, and the only active ingredient in the Benadryl is diphenhydramine. Should I avoid giving her the new wet food and is there anything else I can do to help with her swelling and dental health?
