My 6-year-old male dog had diarrhea last week, and since then, he doesn't seem quite himself. He's been eating and drinking normally but has been itching, and I've noticed redness just below his bottom. He's also walking and sitting differently and has been in bed all day. What could be causing this, and how long should I wait before taking him to a vet? Is there anything I might try at home first?

My labradoodle has chronic ear infections and going to the vet each time is costing me a fortune. I am using a product called Baytril-Otic but it doesn't seem to be helping. Her ears are very inflamed. Is there another product I could try?
