I have a 12-year-old Golden Retriever that is mostly an outdoor dog. During the months of June and July, we let him inside at night as he is afraid of fireworks. I noticed he was favoring his front left paw for about a week. Then, on the 4th of July, I didn't get him inside fast enough, and he was pawing at the wooden gate. When he came inside, he was bleeding from two nails. I treated him with blood stopper from the pet store, but it seems to keep bleeding. I just checked on him, and it was a severe bleed. I treated the nails again, wrapped the paw, and sent him inside to his room in the house. What should I do about the continuous bleeding, and is there anything else the veterinarian should know about my dog's health?
