I have a German Shepherd Dog (GSD) named Sammy, 7 years old and 130 lbs, on Carprofen for arthritis. He recently overdid himself and is in more pain. I have only two Carprofen left and the vet is on vacation. What alternatives can I use for pain relief over the weekend until the vet returns?

My 1-year-old Chihuahua, who weighs 3 lbs, is on prednisone steroids after having meningitis last week. He takes 3/4 of a 2.5mg tablet twice a day. I'm worried because he is still very subdued and won't eat much, even with home-cooked food. Is this normal, as I've read he should have an increased appetite?
