I have a two-week-old English coonhound, Suzy, who is the runt of the litter and weighs 14 oz. Her littermates are over 2 pounds, and she has been bottle-fed with a commercial milk replacer. Recently, she has shown a decreased appetite and prefers to snuggle rather than eat. Should I try giving her sugar water or Karo syrup to stimulate her appetite, and is it safe to switch to a homemade puppy milk with evaporated milk, egg yolk, and yogurt?
