Trying to give my puppy some crate time, but he keeps crying. What are the signs of anxiety and how long do I leave him in there? He's cried for a few minutes, then settles for a bit, then starts again. We've had him for 2 and a bit days. He's happy to go into his crate to chew things and relax with the door open, but freaks out when the door is closed, even if we're in the room. We've been sitting ignoring him, and he would calm down and chill out a bit, then start back up. The vocalizations got more frantic into a hyena laugh bark. We did let him out, but only once he had been quiet for a few seconds. Took him straight outside to pee and now he is chilling out by the couch. We're finding it difficult to stimulate him and tire him out. He's not super keen on toys, and loses interest quickly. Is it acceptable to leave him by himself in a secure area with everything he needs outside? What's the max time he can be left there? A few hours at a time with someone coming to check on him?
