My 8lb chihuahua was attacked and badly injured, with a shattered right hip. The vet recommended surgery but we can't afford it. It's been 24 hours and he's eating and drinking but hasn't gone to the bathroom. What should I do?

We have a 6-year-old Springer Spaniel named Cookie who has had diarrhea for over 36 hours. The color is light chocolate brown with a few small specks of blood, and there has been no vomiting. She was last fed at 5pm EST the previous night, and her diet was recently changed to include Royal Canine Calorie Control. She is up to date on her shots, is drinking plenty of water, and her gums are pink. I have administered 1mg of Loperamide HCL. What suggestions do you have for a cure, should I give her another dose of Loperamide HCL, and how much? Also, does canned pumpkin help?
