My 10-year-old, 16-pound Chihuahua named Gizzy has a collapsed trachea. When it flares up, he makes a honking sound like a goose. He has been treated with cough tablets, prednisone, and theophylline since 2018. He is currently having a flare-up and has been honking for 6 days. What else, besides surgery, can help him? Is it okay to give him Robitussin DM? Is he suffering, and how can he be made more comfortable?
