My 10-year-old golden retriever has a large splenic tumor suspected to be a hemiangioma. He also has arthritis of the spine and is currently on prednisone, joint supplements, and Onco-care. An ultrasound did not show any masses outside the spleen, and no biopsy was done due to the size and risk of bleeding. Should I consider surgery for the tumor, and what are the long-term effects of prednisone on dogs, including the risk of developing conditions like diabetes?
