My dog Chevy, a 9-year-old pit bull weighing 79 lbs, has been vomiting a few times after eating, possibly due to getting into dark chocolate a couple of days ago or starting a high-protein diet a week ago. He also has Cushing's disease and a heart murmur. He has been on melatonin for three weeks and has recently vomited after eating a bland diet of chicken and rice with added lamb and rice kibble. Should I give him metronidazole or doxycycline, and why would he vomit one day and be fine the next? Is it safe to give him these antibiotics with Cushing's disease?
