My 12-year-old golden retriever, Duece, has been showing signs of canine masticatory myositis, including deteriorated face and head muscles and regular head shaking in the last couple of months. My local vet insists on a muscle biopsy before prescribing steroids, which I believe is unnecessary and motivated by financial gain. Are there any home remedies or alternative treatments I can try to relieve his pain?
