My 13.5-year-old female corgi, Ella, was treated for a bladder infection and incontinence issues due to age. She was later put on Rimadyl for arthritis and experienced bloody diarrhea and inability to walk, leading to a week-long stay at the vet. She was diagnosed with an abscess in her kidney area and treated with antibiotics. After initial improvement, she declined again after finishing the antibiotics. I am concerned about her current condition and whether she should continue antibiotics. What antibiotics and dosage would you recommend, and should she continue taking prednisone?

Ella likely needs to continue antibiotics, as her improvement suggests an infection was being fought...

Why is my 7-year-old lab/pit mix suddenly acting very strange and jittery? She can't seem to settle down, is shaking her head occasionally, and has been constantly licking her front paws for months. I live in a remote area and can't get her to a vet right now. What could be going on?

My dog Foxy, a Pomeranian, has been losing hair and weight, and her anal glands seem to be constricting, possibly due to gas problems. I've treated her for worms and fleas, but she still seems uncomfortable. What should I do for her?

I have a 12.5-year-old German Shepherd with a brain tumor (meningioma) and possible degenerative myelopathy. He is currently on procarbazine and displaying symptoms of degenerative myelopathy. I am considering using aminocaproic acid as part of Dr. Clemmons' protocol for degenerative myelopathy, but my dog also has heart disease, possibly mitral valve dysplasia. The dosage for aminocaproic acid is 500mg three times a day, but it should be used with extreme caution in dogs with heart disease. My vet and I are unsure whether to proceed due to potential risks to the heart, and I am seeking advice on whether to use this medication and at what dosage it becomes dangerous for dogs with heart disease.

My 70lb dog ate about 0.5 oz of Tomcat poison. I gave him hydrogen peroxide about 30 minutes ago, and he hasn't vomited yet. What should I do, and is there a toxicity level to be aware of if he had eaten a full block (1 oz)?

My dog, Hazel, has itchy dry skin underneath her back legs and stomach area. She uses medicated shampoo to help ease the dryness. Tonight, my husband used Solva-Ker gel on it, thinking it was like an aloe vera gel, and it turned bright red and she appeared in pain. He gave her an oatmeal bath immediately after but it's even more dry and irritated. Do we need to take her to the emergency vet or will she be okay to see her vet in the morning?
