My 13-year-old Yorkie has liver issues that prevent her from producing the protein albumin, inflammatory bowel disorder (IBD), an enlarged heart with fluid around it causing coughing, and muscle issues from previous steroid use. She is on a homemade diet of boiled potatoes, cottage cheese, egg whites, and rice to compensate for the protein deficiency and is currently on Atopica instead of steroids. Is this diet appropriate for her condition, and are Yorkies more prone to IBD? What causes IBD?
