My 15-month-old dog, Cashy, has had diarrhea since last Wednesday. He might have eaten compost, and I've given him Imodium. He vomited once after eating a big bowl of rice, but otherwise, he's not very lethargic and has pink and moist gums. There's a little blood in his stool, and he's been waking me up at night to go outside. His diet hasn't significantly changed, but he had one or two meals of adult dog food instead of his usual puppy formulation. What could be causing his diarrhea, and what should I do to help him?

My dog, Lacie, a 1-year-old, 25-pound dog, ate three cigarettes about 2 hours ago, but only the tobacco portion, not the fiberglass filters. She has not vomited and seems relatively normal, except for dilated pupils. I'm worried about nicotine poisoning and can't afford a vet bill at the moment. What should I do?
