My 15-year-old border collie/blue healer mix, Maggie, has had a 'ticklish' spot near her back legs for several years, which now causes her hind legs to give out when her back is rubbed or brushed. She is also having difficulty with stairs and getting into the car. What could be causing this and what can be done to help her?

Our dog bit a visiting dog, causing two puncture wounds in the leg. We have used Neosporin, peroxide, and wrapped the wound. We also gave the injured dog baby aspirin and applied ice to the swollen area. The dog is walking but the leg is still swollen. Does swelling indicate infection, and should we seek emergency veterinary care?
