My 12-year-old King Charles Spaniel falls asleep sitting up, sways, and starts to fall over before rousing herself, similar to a narcoleptic. She has had numerous tests and bloodwork, all of which are normal for her age. The vet suggests a CT scan, but it costs $2500, and we are hesitant if it won't lead to effective and affordable treatment. Any suggestions?

My 110 lb, 9-year-old German Shepherd is on 20 mg Prednisone for a fungal skin infection. She has arthritis and is noticeably uncomfortable without Carprofen (cannot be taken together - I understand that). Can I give her coated enteric aspirin or some other over-the-counter pain reliever? How much? I could ask my vet but thought a second opinion might be helpful.
