My 9-month-old dog, Tobey, hasn't eaten since Friday night, has tried to dry heave and vomit without success, and is only drinking water from my hand. He has plenty of energy but refuses to eat or drink on his own. He had diarrhea last night and has a history of eating things he shouldn't. What could be causing this and what should I do?

Vet suggested Allegra solution for my 16-pound Papillon mix, Emma, as Benadryl wasn't working. I gave her a dose at 3 pm and noticed it has xylitol listed as an inactive ingredient. She is acting normal. Do I need to worry?
