My 9-year-old mastiff, Pepper, has swelling in her foot and ankle, which is warm to the touch and has pus on her middle pad. She has difficulty putting weight on that foot and prefers to lay down. She's lethargic for the second day, panting heavily with activity, and is on gabapentin for arthritis pain, which doesn't seem to help her foot. What could be causing this, and should I seek immediate veterinary care?
