My 90 lbs yellow lab swallowed 10-12 glass shards, most under 1 cm. The vet recommended surgery to remove them from the stomach due to the risk of perforation. Is the intestinal lining thick enough to withstand cuts from small glass shards, or could a few cause infection? Should we have opted for bulk feeding instead of surgery?

My dog won't move and yelps in pain. Walking hunched over. About 8 hours ago, the dog became lethargic and hasn't moved in 6 hours. The dog hasn't shown any interest in food and was fine and perky this morning with no fever. The dog's name is Cricket, and she is 12 years old. There is no indication that she ate anything unusual. Her abdomen is tender, and she was walking crookedly before she stopped moving, leading to a concern about a possible stroke. What should I do?
