My Pomeranian dog, Bear, is experiencing heavy breathing, hasn't defecated in two days, and picks up any water he drinks. He also can't keep anything down and is struggling to breathe. My grandkids left a bag of licorice out, and he got into it, consuming the sweettart center. What should I be aware of and what should I do?

I have a Yorkie, Lily, who is a rescue and possibly around 10 years old. She has cataracts and appears to have an upper respiratory problem. She was given steroids and antibiotics by the vet, but she isn't drinking and has shallow, fast breathing. The vet ruled out heart or lung issues. What could be causing her symptoms?
