Our ten-year-old golden retriever has been experiencing skin problems, swelling near her nose, and swelling on her paws, particularly her front paws. She was on an antibiotic and is currently taking 40 mg of prednisone twice daily. She seemed to be improving, but suddenly became largely unable to use her back legs. What could be causing this sudden hind end weakness, and what should we do?

My 15-year-old York Terrier named Fez gets really weak, to the point of collapsing, after pooping. He had a severe episode on Monday, and I thought he had a stroke. I took him to the vet, who conducted blood work and several skeleton x-rays, but everything came back okay. What could be causing this weakness, and is there anything else the vet should be aware of?
