My papillon has fluid/blood buildup in her ear. It doesn't seem to bother her but her ear is very swollen and doesn't stand up. Is it possible she has a blood clot and should have it surgically taken out?

My 14-year-old 7.9lb Chihuahua took a bad fall off her stairs and has been experiencing discomfort, coughing due to COPD flare-ups, and difficulty getting comfortable. She has been prescribed Medacam, Hycodan, and is scheduled to start Prednisone. Is there anything I can give her for pain or to drink to prevent dehydration before starting Prednisone?
