My dog, Bass, a 7-year-old mini dachshund weighing about 18 pounds, got into the trash and ate some spoiled food 24 hours ago. He is now pacing, panting, stepping side to side, and has a warm nose. He threw up about 20 minutes ago, but it was a small amount and not bloody. What should I do?

My 13-year-old dog, Buster, has a distended firm abdomen and general discomfort. He has not vomited much, just some small amounts of whitish foam. His last meal was 10 hours ago, and his last known bowel movement was at least 8 hours ago and was normal. He has some arthritis but no other medications. His activity level has not changed until this incident. What could be causing his discomfort, and what should I do?
