My dog, Bear-dog, has been experiencing intermittent diarrhea and vomiting after being on Remedial for 2 months. The symptoms worsened with a prescribed Hill's prescription diet, and now his poop is grey and slimy. I've tried fasting and a rice and chicken diet, which improved the diarrhea but it became intermittent. The vet prescribed Metronidazole, but I'm hesitant to give it. Should I try natural remedies like Metamucil first, or proceed with the antibiotic? Is an X-ray necessary, and is Metronidazole safe for my dog?

My dog, Hercules, a 1-year-and-2-month-old Maltese Yorkie mix, has been experiencing gastrointestinal issues such as loud stomach rumbling, lack of appetite and pooping for a day, followed by constant hunger and eating quickly. He has only pooped once in the last few days and is not lethargic. I suspect he might have worms and am wondering if there are over-the-counter medications I can give him without seeing a vet.
