My dog, Canelo, a 30-pound, 11-year-old dog, consumed about 5 square pieces of peppermint bark (each approximately 3.5 oz) 13 hours ago. He is currently breathing rapidly, has pale pink gums and tongue, and sounds congested but has no nasal drip. Is there anything I can do to help calm his breathing, and should I be concerned about the chocolate consumption?

Our small dog, Reef, was bitten by our larger dog and has an injured hind leg. He can't walk on his hind legs but seems calm, though in pain. The closest animal emergency care is 1.5 hours away with a 3-hour wait. He bled a bit from one of the pads on his paw, and his rear leg was yanked badly. What should we do in the meantime, and is it safe to give him aspirin for pain relief?
