My Yorkie/Maltese dog began pacing, sniffing, looking up and in different directions, and seemed worried or confused. His tail was tucked in, and he made direct eye contact and wanted to get close for comfort. He also attacked me when I got close, and we think he might be in pain. He had a cyto shot for itchy skin allergies on Monday. What could be causing this behavior, and is it a symptom of something major?

My dad's Yorkie, Hobson, who is 7-8 years old, has an issue with his right ear. He is breathing heavily due to discomfort, constantly rubbing his ear against surfaces, and has small bleeding spots from scratching. His ear is inflamed with crusty spots, and he leans his head to the right. Hobson is prone to allergies and ear infections, often prescribed prednisone and gets regular allergy shots, but these are not always effective. He is bathed and fed with special vet-prescribed products. What could be causing this discomfort, and what can be done to alleviate it?
