My dog, Shoyu, a 13-month-old, is limping and not putting weight on his back paw. The area is red and swollen, and he won't let me touch it. The limping started yesterday evening, and the swelling seems to be getting worse. He was seen by a vet a few days ago who noticed something near his nail, which might be related to the current issue. What could be causing this, and what should I do?

My 10-year-old Maltese, who weighs about 7 lbs, has had an upset stomach and barely eats for several days. She seems to feel better in the mornings but remains lethargic and only eats a few pieces of food from my hand throughout the day. She drinks water occasionally but becomes miserable by night and only wants to be held. She also shows signs of pain when her stomach grumbles. What can be done to help her?
