My 6-month-old Chow Chow, Pynk, has chewed all the hair off an area on her left hip. She started this behavior yesterday, and there are no known allergies. I gave her Benadryl with no relief, and there is no rash or other skin-related symptoms. What could be causing this and what should I do?

My dog, Grady, was diagnosed with Lyme disease and started treatment with doxycycline and rimadyl. He initially improved but then showed signs of severe pain, including an arched back, shaking, whining, and panting. He was rechecked and found to be paralyzed in his hind quarters. We are treating him with steroids and other medications to reduce swelling. What could be causing his paralysis, and is there hope for recovery, especially considering his inability to urinate on his own?
