Our 13-year-old female Sheltie, Bella, has a tumor near her spleen, is lethargic, not eating or drinking, and has labored breathing. We are scheduled to euthanize her on Monday morning. Am I causing her harm by waiting until then, and can she be expected to be okay for 36-40 hours without food or water?

My dog, Porkchop, is in the final stage of CHF with a breathing rate of over 100 breaths per minute. He has been diagnosed with CHF for 15 months and is on medications including Furosemide, Benazapril, and Vetmedin. He is not interested in eating or drinking, is laying down panting, and has pinkish gums. His breathing is very labored, and his cheeks puff out when he breathes. What should we do to manage his condition and minimize his suffering?
