My dog has sudden swelling on both sides of his lower back, which developed after he acted as if something bit him at the park. He is very uncomfortable, won't jump or get up to eat, and tenses up when the area is touched. What could be causing this swelling, and what should I watch for to determine if it's an emergency?

My cat moaned, fell over on her side, then cried again as she ran away, scared, onto the bed. She is a female, about 5 years old. I don't think she was unconscious at any point but became "limp" immediately after. She seems okay now, sleeping on the couch. Trying to figure out what happened.

I have an 11-year-old Sheltie that has been drinking more water than normal for the last couple of months. She had a urinary tract infection a month ago, which has been treated, but her excessive water intake persists. She also has a cough after drinking, diagnosed as a form of bronchitis. Blood and urine tests have not provided conclusive answers, and common diabetes has been ruled out. The vet suspects less common types of diabetes, Cushing's disease, or other conditions. She is overweight, around 35lbs, and was prescribed a diet that she refused to eat. Currently, she is on a weight management dog food mixed with wet food. What can be done to determine the cause of her excessive water intake?
