My 10-year-old golden retriever with IMHA on heavy immune suppressant drugs ate his bowel movement that had been outside for several hours. I'm concerned about potential bacterial infection due to his compromised immune system. Is there anything I can do to prevent this or should I rush him to the ER?

My dog got a dexamethasone 4mg shot on Tuesday 2/11 for his hips, and it seemed to help a little. However, on Thursday 2/13, he started vomiting hours after eating, even though he acts hungry and eats his food fine. Is this a side effect of the shot, and would it take 2 days to affect him this way?

My 10-year-old male dog has an infection in the gums area with occasional bleeding in 1 or 2 spots. I started giving him 500 mg of amoxicillin per day (he weighs 55 lbs). How long should I continue this dose (7-10 days?) and should I have started the first couple of days with more mg?
