My dog, Buster, who weighs 18 pounds and is almost 4 years old, ate one of my benzonatate 100mg pills this morning around 9am central time. He has been coughing a lot and I believe he has kennel cough. What should I do about the medication ingestion and the coughing?

My dog has prostate cancer and the oncologist said he has 2 to 3 months to live about three weeks ago. Now, he has stopped eating and is hardly drinking. There are no vets open to talk to. Is there anything I can give him to make him feel better? He has pain pills. Is there anything to stimulate his appetite or thirst, like what people use?
