My puppy, Diamond, has patches of fur missing and red, irritated skin. She is acting fine, eating and drinking normally, and has no vomiting or blood in her stool. What could be causing this and what should I do to help her?

My 12-year-old chocolate lab has been experiencing unusual respiratory issues, characterized by abdominal pushes expelling air in a cadence, sometimes ending in a feline hairball-type cough or gag without producing anything. The condition was initially triggered by excitement but now occurs more frequently indoors, subsiding when outside.
