My dog, Sasha, an 11 lb Maltese around 8-9 years old, ate a piece of gristle from a pork rib bone on Saturday and has been trying to cough it up since. She has not eaten but only drinks water and urinates, with one bowel movement since then. She is also sleeping a lot and making guttural choking sounds, but is not in pain. Should I take her to an emergency vet?

My 11-year-old Rottweiler named Crimson yelps when going up steps and lifts her front left leg for a few steps. She is on glucosamine MSM chondroitin supplements twice daily and has had past knee replacements in both back legs. Aside from this yelping, there are no other behavioral changes or signs of pain or discomfort. What could be causing this and what should I do?
