My dog, who has elevated liver numbers and is being treated for Cushing's disease, recently experienced sudden weakness in his legs and difficulty standing. He was diagnosed with a pinched nerve or muscle and given Gabapentin, which only made him sleep. I discontinued it and massaged his back, shoulders, and legs, but got no pain response. He also developed diarrhea, stopped eating, and recently stopped drinking water. He was given Loperamide HCI 2mg and Tylan 325mg, which stopped the diarrhea but he still has no appetite or interest in water. He looks bloated and mostly sleeps. I am concerned about the dosage of Loperamide HCI 2mg, as he only weighs 14 pounds and was given 2 capsules. Could this be back pain, and if so, why didn't I get a pain response from him during massage?
